"We only sink if we stop swimming." - Gail Lynn Goodwin
This quote rings very true for the past decade of my life. After what I thought was a horrible failure with my art, I spent a couple decades jumping from job to job, trying to figure out where I fit into life. I always painted & made art, but never talked about it with my professional friends, until I was having lunch with a friend who I realized made me feel that it was okay to share my secret. She was surprised to hear that I was an artist and had shown & sold work around the country. That conversation became the start of a pivot - and a few months later when I left my last corporate job, I decided to devote my life to my real calling - art.
And then I discovered that not only was making art a crucial part of me, but working to form a community, bringing artists and the wider community together was another critical component to my mission (happiness). While I'm busier than I ever was working in the corporate world, I'm doing what I love - making art for my sustainably-conscious collectors, and developing an arts community in my town. And I've met so many wonderful people who've helped and supported me on this journey, which has motivated and strengthened me to keep swimming! ✨
