I think most (visual) artists listen to music while creating. I'll listen to a wide variety of music - I love putting my music library on random and seeing what comes up.

I had on Toccata and Fugue in D Minor while I was making this (I love Disney’s original ‘Fantasia’ score) - and realized later that the images from that scene in the movie influenced how I was working on this piece. And here I thought I was experimenting with some new greens… but I guess my mind was playing around with other ideas.
