This isn't my studio (mine's much smaller & more crowded with tools, bikes, camping gear, etc...), but I think it's a wonderful space.✨
Cleaning Up the Studio
I spent the morning cleaning up my studio-garage. It's not finished, as it needs a complete overhaul and re-organization, but that’s not going to happen for awhile. Too many things on the calendar - but for now it’s looking much better.
In re-organizing, I came across some pieces that were in the ‘ugly art’ pile. It's where art ends up when I feel stuck - I don't know what to do and I don't like the direction it's going. When I reach the point that I feel there's no hope, into the pile it goes, and I walk away to start something different. Throwing out ugly art is wasting expensive materials, so I typically hang onto all of it, and then reuse the materials when the art muse speaks. Sometimes the muse is silent for a long time, and the ugly art pile grows.
Not-So-Ugly-Art?
While reviewing the uglies this morning, I discovered five (possibly six or seven) pieces I thought were potentially worth saving. So I touched them up and voilà, not-so-ugly anymore! Well, a couple of them still need a little more work - but they're on the way to being finished.
It was kinda like one of those times when you’ve lost some weight and then shop your own closet - discovering clothes that hadn’t fit in awhile, which now you look fantastic in. Ever have one of those moments? Wahoo! Today it wasn't my closet however, it was my studio I did some shopping in. Maybe that's not the best analogy, but it was that kinda feeling. ✨
